Optical active of quaternary ammonium salt -

If the N atom in quaternary ammonium ion is chiral i.e., joined with four different alkyl radicals then it would exist in two optically active enantiomeric forms.The mixture of these two will be resolvable as there is no lone pair now on N atom, the interconversion is locked.

 N in 2 and 3 canot be considered to be a setreocentre because of N imersion and so 2 and 3 will not share optical activity . N in 4 will not undergo immersion due to absence of lone pair
