Polysaccharides are those carbohydrates which yield a very large number of monosaccharide units (>10) on hydrolysis. Maltose \mathrm{\mathrm{C}_{12} \mathrm{H}_{22} \mathrm{O}_{11}} is a disaccharide that gives two monosaccharide units (glucose) on hydrolysis.
