As we have learnt,

Lewis acid character of boron trihalides obey the order

\mathrm{BI_{3}> BBr_{3}> BCl_{3}> BF_{3}}

In \mathrm{BF_3}, boron completes its octet by backbonding so it is the weakest lewis acid.

As the size of the halogen increases, the back bonding becomes less effective due to the difference in size of the overlapping orbitals and as a result the lewis acidic character of the boron trihalides increases on increasing the size of the halogens.

Therefore, option (1) is correct.
