Which of the following statement is correct?
IE1 < IE2 < IE3
IE2 < IE1 < IE3
IE3 < IE1 < IE2
IE2 < IE3 < IE1
The ionisation energy is the energy given to an atom to release its electron. Again, second ionisation energy is the energy given to an atom to remove its second electron. Now, after removing the first electron, the effect of nuclear charge of atom increases on the electrons. Thus it becomes hard to remove its second electron and hence second ionisation energy is higher than the first ionisation energy and third ionisation energy is further higher than second ionisation energy.
Therefore, Option(1) is correct
