Why alkali metal salts are usually white in color?
Because they are ionic.
Because they are covalent.
Because of fully filled shells of cation.
Because of the high ionic bond dissociation energy.
As the cation has completely filled outer shell, the electrons require large energy to move into higher states which is very difficult. Again, if such a transition occurs then it needs to absorb radiation from the UV spectrum and remain colourless.
