Let,

OP =  tangent drawn from a point to center = 10

OT = raius = 6 cm

OP2 = OT2 + PT2 [By Pythagoras Theorem]  

102 = 62 + PT2  

PT2 = 102 – 62 = 100 - 36 =64  

PT = 8
