: In a body-centred tetragonal (BCT) lattice, there are atoms located at each of the eight corners of the base of the unit cell and one atom at the centre of the unit cell. The height of the unit cell does not affect the number of atoms present in the unit cell. Therefore, the total number of atoms in the unit cell
is  8 \times\left(\frac{1}{8}\right) + 1 = 1 + 1 = 2
