A voltmeter having voltage range of zero to $(V_A-V_B)$ is obtained. If a resistance $R$ is connected in series with the galvanomter and the instrument is used between the points $A$ and $B$ -

In the given problem, $V_A-V_B=5V$

Now, $V_A-V_B=I_G(G+R)$

$R=\frac{V_A-V_B}{I_{C_1}}-C_1=\frac{5}{0.01}-10=500-10=490 \Omega$
