A voltmeter having voltage range of zero to (V_A-V_B) is obtained. If a resistance R is connected in series with the galvanomter and the instrument is used between the points A and B -

In the given problem, V_A-V_B=5V

Now, V_A-V_B=I_G(G+R)

R=\frac{V_A-V_B}{I_{C_1}}-C_1=\frac{5}{0.01}-10=500-10=490 \Omega
