A Storage battery with emf 15.6V loaded with external resistance produces a current 1A. In this case, the potential difference between the terminals of the storage battery equals 2.5 volts. Find the thermal power generated in the battery and the net power supplied by the battery for external circuit.

Option: 1

13 \mathrm{w}

v=E-ir
\Rightarrow \quad ir =E-V \\
\Rightarrow r =\frac{E-V}{i}=\frac{(15.6-2.5) v}{1 A}
=\frac{13.1}{1} V / A=13.1 \mathrm{~V} / A \\=\frac{13.1V}{1A} =13.1 \frac {V}{A} \\
\approx 13.1\Omega

and  P =i^2 r \\

            =(1)^2 \cdot(13)=13 \mathrm{w}

Power supplied by the battery =Ei

                                                =15.6 \mathrm{~W}

Net power supplied for external circuit                                                                     = (15.6-13)W

                                                    =2.6W
