Processes involved in Urine formation -

Reabsorption

- wherein

A comparison of the volume of the filtrate formed per day (180 litres per day) with that of the urine released (1.5 litres), suggest that nearly 99 per cent of the filtrate has to be reabsorbed by the renal tubules. This process is called reabsorption.

The factors responsible for forming a concentrated urine are:

1. High level of ADH which increases the permeability of distal tubules and collecting ducts to the water, thereby allowing these tubular segements to reabsorbs water.

2. Hypersomolarity toward inner medullary interstitium that provides osmotic gradient necessary for the water reabsorption.

Thus, option 2 is correct.

Option 1)

Low levels of antidiuretic hormone

Option 2)

Maintaining hypersmolarity towards inner medullary interstitium in the kidneys.

Option 3)

Secretion of erythroprotein by Juxtaglomerular complex.

Option 4)
