As the velocity of the body at height h is given by

v = \sqrt{u^{2}-2 gr} = \sqrt{u^{2}-2 gr\left ( 1 - cos \theta \right )}

So put \theta = 90^{0}

We get v_{b} = \sqrt{u^{2}-2 gr}
