Statement I :
In Lucas test, primary, secondary and tertiary alcohols are distinguished on the basis of their reactivity with conc. \mathrm{HCl}+\mathrm{ZnCl}_{2}, known as Lucas Reagent.
Statement II :
Primary alcohols are most reactive and immediately produce turbidity at room temperature on reaction with Lucas Reagent.

In the light of the above statements, choose the most appropriate answer from the options given below:

Option: 1

Both Statement I and Statement II are incorrect.
 


Option: 2

Statement I is correct but Statement II is incorrect.
 


Option: 3

Statement I is incorrect but Statement II is correct.

As we have learnt

In the Lucas test for alcohols, tertiary alcohols produce instant turbidity, secondary alcohols produce turbidity after (5-10) min. While primary alcohol do not produce turbidity.

Thus, Statement I is correct while Statement II is incorrect

hence correct option is 2.
