Select the option which is not correct with respect to enzyme action:

  • Option 1)

Substrate binds with enzyme at its active site.

  • Option 2)

Addition of lot of succinate does not reverse the inhibition of succinic dehydrogenase by malonate.

  • Option 3)

A non - competitive inhibitor binds the enzyme at a site distict from that which binds the substrate.

  • Option 4)

As we discussed in concept

Nature of Enzyme Action -

Each Enzyme (E) has a subtract (S) binding to the molecule so that a highly reactive enzyme substrate complex (ES) is produced, which is short-lived and dissociates into its product and unchanged Enzyme

- wherein

E+S\rightleftharpoons ES\rightarrow EP\rightarrow E+P

The formation of ES complex is essential for catalysts.

Enzyme Inhibition -

The activity of an enzyme is sensitive to the presence of specific chemicals , when the binding of the chemical shuts off enzyme activity the process is called inhibition and the chemical is called an inhibitor.

-

Competitive inhibitors binds at active site while non-competitive inhibitors binds at a site distinct from active site. Malonate is a competitive inhibitor of succinic dehydrogenase, its activity is reversed by adding a lot of succinic dehydrogenase.

Option 1)

Substrate binds with enzyme at its active site.

This option is incorrect.

Option 2)

Addition of lot of succinate does not reverse the inhibition of succinic dehydrogenase by malonate.

This option is correct.

Option 3)

A non - competitive inhibitor binds the enzyme at a site distict from that which binds the substrate.

This option is incorrect.

Option 4)

Malonate is a competitive inhibitor of succinic dehydrogenase.
