Electronic Configuration -

The 'd' block elements follow the general configuration (n-1)d^{1-10}(ns^{1-2}).

-

According to the Aufbau Principle, e-s occupy lower energy orbitals before going higher. Electrons are assigned to orbitals in order of increasing value of n+l.

For subshells with some value of (n+l), e-s are assigned first to the sub shell with lower x.

                n+l value                             Therefore, the correct order will be 3s 3p 4s 3d

3s              3+0=3

3p              3+1=4

3d              3+2=5

4s               4+0=4

Option 1)

3s\:\: 4s \:\: 3p \:\: 3d

This option is incorrect

Option 2)

4s \:\: 3s \:\: 3p \:\: 3d

This option is incorrect

Option 3)

3s \:\: 3p \:\: 3d \:\: 4s

This option is incorrect

Option 4)

3s \:\: 3p\:\: 4s \:\: 3d

This option is correct
