As learnt in

Change in Q during adsorption -

\DeltaQ=\DeltaH - T\DeltaS

- wherein

\DeltaQ can be negative if \DeltaH is sufficiently high negative value as -T\DeltaS is positive. In an adsorption process which is spontaneous, a combination of these two factors make \DeltaG negative.

As the molecule of the adsorbate are held on the surface of the solid assorbent, Entropy decreases i.e \Delta S= -Ve

As \Delta \theta =\Delta H-T\Delta S

For absorption to occur, \Delta \theta =-Ve and it is possible only when \Delta H =-Ve

Option 1)

\Delta G is negative but \Delta H and \Delta S are positive

This is incorrect option
