Identify the correct statement.
Froth floatation process is based on the difference in wettability of ore by oil and impurity by water
Froth floatation process uses pine oil as a collector
Aniline, cresol etc are used as froth stabilizers
All of the above
Froth floatation process is used for the concentration of sulphide ores of copper, zinc and lead.
In this method, the advantage is taken of the preferential wetting of the ore by an oil such as pine and crude coal tar etc and selectively separating more hydrophobic materials from hydrophilic materials. The metal sulphide is wetted by the oil and the sulphide-oil mixture is carried to the surface by films of oil. The unwetted gangue settles down on the bottom. Pine oil, crude coal tar etc are used as collectors.
Aniline, cresol etc are used as froth stabilizers. These are the compounds which reduces the surface tension of water.
All the given statements are correct.
