It is caused due to the presence of an additional copy of x-chromosome resulting into a karyotype of 47,XXY.

Klinfelter syndrome is caused by the presence of an extra X chromosomes in males, wherein the genetic composition is 44+XXY. The total no. of chromosmes is 47. The symptoms of this syndrome are sterility, development of breasts and masculine development.
