As learnt in

Manufacture of ammonia by Calcium Cyanamide -

CaCN2 is hydrolysed with super heated steam

- wherein

CaC_{2}+N_{2}\overset{\Delta }{\rightarrow}CaCN_{2}+C

CaCN_{2}+3H_{2}O\overset{450K}{\rightarrow}CaCO_{3}+2NH_{3}

  Calcium Cyanamide or nitrolim is obtained when CaC2 reacts with nitrogen under high temperature.

        CaC_{2}+N_{2}\overset{\Delta }{\rightarrow}Ca\left ( CN \right )_{2}+C

This reaction is also used in manufacture of ammonia through cyanamide.
