Number of nuclei in terms of half life -

N=frac{N_{0}}{2^{t/t_{1/2}}}

- wherein

Very useful to determine number of nuclei in terms of half life

 

t_{1/2}=10minutes

N_{0}=600

N=150=\frac{N_{0}}{2^{\frac{t}{t_{1/2}}}}=\frac{600}{2^{\frac{t}{t_{1/2}}}}

\Rightarrow \frac{t}{t_{1/2}} = 2

or {t}=2{t_{1/2}} = 20 minutes
