Complications in Replication fork -

Since the DNA polymerase only in one direction (that is 5'\rightarrow 3"), the replication, is continuous while on other strand it 5^{1}\rightarrow 3^{1} is discontinuous.  

Explaination: DNA replicates only in one direction that is 5' to 3' the continuos stand is called as leading stand which moves towards the opening of the fork and the other one that is discontinuos stand is called as lagging stand which moves outwards to the replicating fork.
