We are given that volume of the cube  =\ 64\ cm^3

Also, the volume of cube is given by   =\ a^3   ( here  a  is the edge of the cube)

Thus :                                          a^3\ =\ 64

                                                  a\ =\ 4\ cm

Now according to the question we have combined the two cubes that edge lengths of the formed cuboid are 4 cm, 4 cm and 8 cm.

The surface area of a cuboid is :      =\ 2\left ( lb\ +\ bh\ +\ hl \right )

or                                                   =\ 2\left ( 8\times 4\ +4\times 4\ +\ 4\times 8 \right )

or                                                   =\ 2\left ( 80 \right )

or                                                   =\ 160\ cm^2

Thus the area of the formed cuboid is 160 cm2.
