# 1.  A metallic sphere of radius 4.2 cm is melted and recast into the shape of a cylinder of radius 6 cm. Find the height of the cylinder.

Answers (1)

Let us assume the height of the cylinder to be h.

Since the material is melted and recast thus its volume will remain the same.

So, Volume of sphere =  Volume of obtained cylinder.

$\frac{4}{3}\pi r^3_s\ =\ \pi r^2_c h$

$\frac{4}{3}\pi \times 4.2^3\ =\ \pi \times 6^2 \times h$

$h\ =\ \frac{4}{3}\times \frac{4.2\times4.2\times 4.2}{36}$

$h\ =\ 2.74\ cm$

Hence the height of the cylinder is 2.74 cm.
