Microsporogenesis refers to the process of formation of pollen grains or microspores from microspore mother cells while megasporogenesis is the process of formation of megaspores from megaspore mother cells. During microsporogenesis and megasporogenesis, meiotic divisions occur in the microspore mother cells and megaspore mother cells respectively. At the end of microsporogenesis and megasporogenesis, microspore and megaspore tetrad are formed from which microspores and megaspores are formed respectively.
