During an experiment, a signal from a spaceship reached the ground station in five minutes. What was the distance of the spaceship from the ground station? The signal travels at the speed of light, that is, $3 \times 10^{8}ms^{-1}$.

Given, the signal travels at the speed of light,  $v = 3 \times 10^{8}ms^{-1}$.

Time taken by the signal =$5\ mins = 5\times60 s= 300\ s$

Let the distance of the spaceship from the ground station be $D\ m$

We know, $Speed = \frac{Distance\ travelled }{Time\ taken}$

$\\ \implies v = \frac{D}{t} \\ \\ \implies D = v\times t = 3\times10^8 \times 300$

$\\ \implies D = 9\times10^{10}\ m$

Therefore, the distance of spaceship from the ground station is $9\times10^{10}\ m$
