$(y-y_1)=m(x-x_1)$
Line Intersecting the $x$-axis at a distance of $3$ units to the left of origin which means the point is (-3,0)
Now, the equation of the line passing through the point (-3,0) and with slope -2  is
$(y-0)= -2(x-(-3))\\ y = -2x-6\\ 2x+y+6=0$
Therefore, the equation of the line  is   $2x+y+6=0$
