1. Viroids are smaller in size than viruses.

2. Viruses have both DNA/RNA as a genetic material whereas viroids are free RNA particles.

3. Viroids cause diseases in plants whereas viruses infect both plants and animals.

4. Viruses have a protein coat called capsid whereas viroids lack protein layer.
