The common name of pea is simpler than its botanical (scientific) name Pisum sativum. Why then is the simpler common name not used instead of the complex scientific/ botanical name in biology?
Ans. The well-known term 'pea' is an English term and is termed differently in different languages. It is much more convenient to keep in mind a standard scientific name in relation to innumerable names. Therefore, it is preferable to use scientific,
universally accepted names.
