1. Why does an athlete breathe faster and deeper than usual after finishing the race?
The muscles of an athlete undergo anaerobic respiration which means the oxygen is used up faster than being supplied by the blood. Thus, to inhale more oxygen, an athlete breathes faster and deeper than usual after finishing the race.
An athelet consumes a lot of energy during running which is produced by the oxidation of glucose.by breathing deeper and faster the athlete is basically consuming more and more oxygen to meet his or her energy requirements
During the sun,the demand of energy is high but the supply of oxygen to produce energy is limited.therefore, anaerobic respiration takes place in the muscle cells to fulfil the demand of energy. After finishing the race,an athlete breathes faster and deeper than usual so that more oxygen is supplied to the cells.
