Good morning to my esteemed teachers and my dear friends. Today, I Radha is going to speak few lines on the topic Independence Day. In India, we celebrate this day on 15th of august, since 1947.It is a national holiday. The independence was led by the non-violent Independence movement lead by Gandhi. The then Prime Minister, Jawahar Lal Nehru hoisted the Indian flag at Red fort in Delhi to mark India as a free nation. The handover of power was foreseen by Lord Mountbatten, the last viceroy of India. This date marks our freedom from the imperial rule of British. British ruled over us for 200 years ,so it was a monumental achievement for our country which although was stripped of almost all the resources but we had such gifted minds like M.K. Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, B.R. Ambedkar and many more who helped in uplifting the country from the ground to on its own legs. The freedom gave birth to democracy. Our ancestors, many unnamed fought the British so that we could have a free life from such oppression. They bravely lost their lives to a great cause and it is our duty to uphold their honour by protecting the nation and serving to it faithfully. Thank you for listening. Jai Hind.
