A bag contains some balls of which x are white, 2x are black and 3x are red. A ball is selected at random. What is the probability that it is (i) not red (ii) white ?

Answers (1)

$\text{Total number of balls}=2x+3x+x=6x$

(i) Not red

$x+2x=3x$

$\text{Probability of not red balls}=\frac{3x}{6x}=\frac{1}{2}$

(ii) White balls :

$P(\text{White balls})=\frac{x}{6x}=\frac{1}{6}$
