Answers (1)

Given :

Total no. of shirts, n(T)=125

Total no. of good shirts, n(G)=110

Total no. of minor defect shirts, n(mD)=12

Total no. of major defect shirts, n(M\!D)=3

(i) Ramlal will only buy good shirts.

Hence, P_1=\frac{\text{no. of good shirts}}{\text{no. of total shirts}}=\frac{n(G)}{n(T)}=\frac{110}{125}=\frac{22}{25}

(ii) Naveen will buy all shirts except with major defects.

No. of shirts Naveen buys =n(N)=n(G)+n(mD)

                   =110+12

n(N)=122

Hence, P_2=\frac{\text{no. of shirts Naveen buys }}{\text{ Total no. of shirts}}=\frac{n(N)}{n(T)}=\frac{122}{125}
