A hollow iron pipe is 21 cm long &its external diameter is 8 cm. if the thickness of the pipe is 1 cm and iron weighs 8g/cm cubic units,then the weight of the pipe is

Answers (1)

Length of the pipe (L)= 21 cm

External diameter (D)= 8 cm

Internal diameter (d) = 8 - 2 = 6 cm

$ Volume of the metal $ = \frac{\pi}{4} (D^2 -d^2)L\\ = \frac{22}{7\times 4} (8^2 -6^2) \times 21 \\ = 462 \ cm^3

Density of the metal = 8g/cu.cm

Hence total weight of the pipe = 8x462 = 3696 gm
