(a) Soap is sodium or potassium salt of long chain carboxylic acids while detergents are ammonium or sulphonate salts of long chain carboxylic acids.

(b) Activity to show that a detergent works well with all types of water while a soap does not, 

a. Taketwo test tubes with about 10 ml of hard water in each

b. Add five drops of soap solution to one and five drops of detergentsolution to the other

c. shake both test tubes for the same period

d. In detergent, quantity of leather is more than soap
