(a) How will you infer with the help of an experiment that the same current flows through every part of the circuit containing three
resistors R1, R2 and R3 in series connected to a battery of V volts ?
(b) Study the following circuit and find out :
(i) Current in 12\Omega resistor.
(ii) Difference in the readings of A1 and A2, if any.

Answers (1)

(a) Steps-

1. Connect an ammeter between R_{1} and R_{2} and note down the current.

2. Repeat the same by connecting it between R_{2},R_{3} and then R_{3} and R_{4}

3. You will find that all the notings are same. hence, same current flows throughout a circuit with service connection.

(b)

(i) The two 24\Omega restores are in parallel the resultant resistance will be \frac{1}{R}=\frac{1}{24}+\frac{1}{24}

=\frac{1}{R}=\frac{2}{24}

R=12\Omega

The circuit could be drawn as

Let's assume current i is flowing in the circuit

V=i\times 12+i\times 12

\frac{6}{24}=i

(ii) The current in both ammetur A_{1} and A_{2} will be same because they are connected in series

Hence difference between reading will be zero.
