a) In the process of respiration, alveoli plays an important part as it's function is to exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide molecules to and from the bloodstream.

b) The rate of breathing in aquatic organisms is much faster due to the low concentration of oxygen in the aquatic environment than that seen in terrestrial organisms.
