(a) Conformers - Organisms which cannot maintain a constant internal environment undercharging external environmental conditions, change body temperature and osmotic concentration with a change in the external environment. Eg - fishes, etc.

Regulators - Organisms which can maintain homeostasis, maintain constant body temperature and osmotic concentration. Eg- mammals.

(b) Thermoregulation is energetically expensive for animals.
