A paragraph on diwali

Diwali is celebrated when Lord Ram came back to Ayodhya from exile of 14 years. In his honour and the happiness of coming back home, the whole town lit diyas and lamps to celebrate it.

But now the meaning of Diwali has entirely changed. People celebrate it as an excuse to burst crackers. The crackers not only produce noise pollution , it produces toxic gases which produce air pollution. The noise is hazardous for people and animals as the sounds are deafening and surely weaken the hearing of organisms and the smoke causes difficulty in breathing and causes respiratory problems. It also tampers with your vision as the gunpowder settles in the air and enters our system which is toxic to us.

To prevent all this, and to celebrate the true essence of Diwali, we should not burst crackers but light diyas, candles, paper lamps and light decorative lights. WIth global warming rising rapidly, it is in our hands to reduce carbon emissions and pledge to live sustainably and in harmony with nature.  Diwali is a festival of happiness and celebrating your union with your families. We should celebrate Diwali peacefully with a better conscience and be a model example for the society. It is in your hands to be the better person.
