A point mass of mass 1 kg is thrown vertically upward from the ground with a speed of 12 m / s. Neglecting air resistance and taking g = 10 m/s2, determine the maximum height from the ground

Answers (1)

At maximum height the velocity=0

Here the object is moving upwards, therefore

v^2=u^2-2gh

Where h is the maximum height and u is the initial velocity. The final velocity v=0. So

\\u^2=2gh\\\\h=\frac{u^2}{2g}=\frac{12^2}{2\times10}=7.2m
