Precaution for decomposition reaction of ferrous sulphate crystal.

\underset{(light green)Ferrous sulphate}{FeSO_{4}.7H_{2}O}\overset{\Delta }{\rightarrow}\underset{(white)}{2FeSO_{4}}\rightarrow \underset{(brown)ferric oxide}{Fe_{2}O_{3}}+SO_{2}+SO_{3}

1. The mouth of boiling tube should not be pointed.

2. White gases are emitted from FeSO_{4} on heating. The gases of SO_{2} and 

    SO_{3} are very shameful, so deep breath should not be taen when smelling     the odour of gases.

3. Test tube holder must be used while heating the test tube.
