They are categorized as proteins, fats, carbohydrates (sugars, dietary fibre), vitamins, and minerals, and perform the following vital functions and provide immunity to the body.

b) Peristalsis causes movement of food inside the alimentary canal.

c) The small intestine is longer in herbivore than in carnivore because herbivores eat only grass which is full of cellulose and the digestion of cellulose takes a long time to absorb.

d) If the mucus is not released, it will lead to a breakthrough of the inner lining of the stomach causing acidity and ulcers.
