(a) Medel carried out a Monohybrid cross. Mendel crossed pure tall pea plants (TT) with pure dwarf pea plants (tt). Only tall pea plants are obtained in F_{1} (First) generation and there were no dwarf pea plants.

Then crossed the tall plants of F_{1} generation and found that tall and dwarf both plants are obtained in F_{2} (second) generation in the ratio 3:1.

In this way, Mendel's experiments with pea plants (tall & dwarf) showed that the traits may be recessive and dominant.

(b) Birds are closely related to lizards. Both are reptiles and bats are closely related to Squirrels. Both are mammals.
