(a) Xylem Trachelds and Xylem vessels.

\rightarrow Cells of roots are in close contact with the soil actively take up ions.

\rightarrow Creates a difference in concentration of ions.

\rightarrow Hence osmotic pressure increases the movement of water from the soil into roots which occurs continuously.

(b) Plants do not need to move from one place to another place. movements in the plants are usually at a cellular level, that's why less amount of energy is required by plants. On the other hand, animals need to move in search of food.
