Affix
Definition- These are group of letters that are combined with root words (words in their base form) to form a new word or new form of the word. In the English language, there are mainly two types of affixes:
Example- Encourage. Here ‘en’ is the prefix and ‘courage’ is the root word.
Inexplicable (In- prefix; explicable- root word)
Refix (Re- prefix; fix- root word)
Example- Weaken. Here ‘weak’ is the root word and ‘en’ is the suffix.
Wanting. (Want- root word; ing- suffix)
Greatest (Great- root word; est- suffix)
