# At what point of projectile motion (i) potential energy is maximum (ii) Kinetic energy is maximum (iii) total mechanical energy is maximum CLASS - XI PHYSICS (Kinematics)

1. P.E. Will be maximum at the highest point
2. K.E. of a projectile will be minimum (but not zero) at the highest point, because only vertical component of velocity is zero. K.E is maximum at the place of projection.

$\\ (P.E.)_{highest \ point} =\mathrm{mgH} \\ (P . E)_{H}=m g\left(\frac{u^{2} \sin ^{2} \theta}{2 g}\right) \\ (P . E)_{H}=\frac{1}{2} m u^{2} \sin ^{2} \theta$

$(K . E .)_{H}=\frac{1}{2} m\left(v_{H}\right)^{2}$

$(K . E .)_{H}=\frac{1}{2} m v^{2} \cos ^{2} \theta$

$(P . E .)_{H}+(K . E .)_{H}=\frac{1}{2} m u^{2}\left(\sin ^{2} \theta+\cos ^{2} \theta\right)=\frac{1}{2} m u^{2}$

So in projectile motion, total mechanical energy is conserved i.e. same at all locations of its motion
