Marla Runyan is an American track and field athlete, road runner, and marathon runner. Marla Runyan was legally blind She was a 3 time national champion in the 5000 meters. She is 52 years old and Born on 4th Jan 1969 in Santa Maria California. Runyan is the second child of Valerie and Gary Runyan. She is blind in the left eye and has developed a disease called juvenile macular degeneration which causes central vision loss and Legal blindness. Beyond running Marla holds two degrees related to special education, She has 15 years of teaching experience. She was the first Blind athlete in the Olympics. She completed her iconic Journey from Paralympic Champion to Olympic qualifier., though she became the first blind Olympic Athlete. Marla never let her vision loss stand in the way of her athletic dreams.
