\\ $Area of the shaded region = 2 (Area of arc ABPD - Area of triangle ABD )$ \\ = 2( \frac{1}{4} \times \pi r^2 - \frac{1}{2} \times AB \times AD ) \\ = 2( \frac{1}{4} \times \pi \times 7^2 - \frac{1}{2} \times 7 \times 7 ) \\ = 7^2 (\frac{\pi}{2}-1) \\ = 28 \ cm^2
