Pact with the Sun is a short story written by Zakir Hussain  . It is the story of a young daughter, Saeeda and her mother. Her mother was not well and was advised by the doctor to take bed rest. Her mother was asked to sit in sunlight for eight to nine hours daily and take fresh air. As sunshine and fresh air are more important than medicines.

Saeeda made a pact with the sunrays that they would appear the next morning with lots of warmth. Her mother then would be able to sit in the brightness of Sun. Even the sunrays were keen to go down to the Earth the next day as they promised Saeeda to help the mother. To keep the promise they forced their way through the dark clouds.
