Can you think the reason why more complex organisms cannot give rise to new individuals through regeneration?

Regeneration is the process in which an organism is cut into several parts and develop into new individuals from each piece. Not all complex organisms have the ability to regenerate since the different types of the tissues present in an organism can only regenerate to form the tissue and not the whole organism due to the absence of the feature called totipotency. Also, an organism cannot wait to get cut into pieces for reproduction to take place.
