Define the term evolution. ‘‘Evolution cannot be equated with progress.’’ Give examples to justify this statement.

Definition of Evolution :
Evolution is defined as a process of gradual changes which takes in primary organisms over millions of years in which new species of an organism are produced.
Evolution should not be equated with progress because the simple form of organism performs functions which are very difficult to do by the complex organism.
For example:-
(i) Bacteria is a simple organism and human is complex.
(ii) Human being has not evolved from Chimpanzes but both have common ancestor.
