Desert is said to be a wasteland or land not fit to be used for cultivation or not fit to be lived in. but the desert is one of the mysteries of nature. They make the earth diverse in its outlook as well as with respect to the habitat. Most people think that deserts are sand only. But they also contain rocks. The water content is the scariest and most needed thing in the desert, The one-third part of the land of earth is either arid or semi-arid. This means that deserts comprise a large area of our land. There are 60 countries in the world that have dryland areas. There are 30 counties in total that are 75 percent dry land. These countries are mainly situated in Africa and Asia.

The world’s longest dry land is made by the Saharan-Arabian-Iranian-thar desert.  This covers an area of 6000 miles and it is tracked from Africa to Pakistan.

Deserts cannot be used to settle down in cities because they lack many basic things that human settlement needs. But deserts are not lonely places because right from the beginning of the human race, deserts have been used for different purposes.

Although deserts are deserted places, it does not mean they have no life. Desert contains many species of plants that are not found in any other part of the world. There are around 3000 plant species and many thousands of invertebrates and 550 vertebrate species found in the Sonoran desert of North America. This desert contains the largest amount of species on earth. There are some desert species like the kangaroo rats of the North American desert, which never drink water because they need water full from the seeds they eat. Because deserts are too dry places for fungi to grow, so for the decaying function deserts have termites.
